Legion of Mary

Pray the rosary and join the legion!  Wednesday mornings from 9:30 at the convent chapel located at 15 Franklin St. in Somerville.  The Legion of Mary also meets in Spanish.  Call parish office for specific dates and times.

Eucharistic Adoration

The Blessed Sacrament is exposed and adored, prayingy before the Lord Jesus present in the Monstrance.

Finance Council

Advises the Adminstrator on financial matters of the parish and school. Responsible for monitoring all income and expenses, and approving the annual budgets.

Offertory Counters

A group that counts the funds collected at Mass each week. Each group volunteers about once a month.

Parish Administratorial Council

The PPC is involved in most activities and programs effecting the liturgical and spiritual life of St. Benedict Parish.

Protecting God’s Children

All of the clergy, office staff, and every volunteer is required to attend a Virtus—Protecting God’s Children training session, an archdiocese sponsored program which teaches an awareness of those persons and situations which could endanger our children. The state also requires volunteers to submit a yearly CORI form.

Senior Altar Server

Men and women who assist at Mass or Funeral masses to enhance the worship of our faith community.

Stations of the Cross

Prayed at 3:00 PM in English and 7:00 PM in Spanish during Lent.


Volunteers who assist people to their seat if necessary. They also take up the collection.

Altar Server

Boys and girls from grade 3 and above are welcome to let our Adminstrator know that they would like to serve God at His altar.  Training will take place before each mass for those of you who may be new. 

Baptism Preparation

Preparing parents for the formation of their child’s faith.

Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality

A group that fosters devotion to Mary and strives to be a spiritual and financial organization that supports the church and school with its fundraising and functions.

Extraodinary Ministers of Communion

Extraordinary Ministers of Communion who serve the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass and to the sick and homebound.

Flowers and Grounds

Volunteers who care for and beautify the grounds and church.


Parish volunteers who warmly welcome parishioners as they enter the Church for Mass.


Reader who proclaim the Scriptures at Mass and other services.

Liturgical Linen Service

Responsible for the preparation and care of the altar linens. This includes the washing and ironing of purificators, corporals, and altar linens.

Outreach to Homebound

Volunteer Eucharistic Ministers who bring the Eucharist to registered parishioners who are homebound.


Rite of Christian Initiation – preparation of adult candidates for Catholic sacraments.


Duties include preparing the altar for Mass and cleaning the altar following Mass.
